We have been interested in reducing our carbon footprint for quite some time but when we looked into using solar energy for our home, the cost was just too great even with the various tax and electric company incentives. However, at the end of 2008, in response to provisions in the initial stimulus package that increased the residential tax credit to 30% of the cost of the solar system it seemed like a good time to take another look. We contacted several solar energy companies. Anderson Solar Control was one of three companies that provided us with bids. Anderson Solar was recommended by a general contractor who had previously worked with us, so we felt confident that he would do high quality work. We met with Brian Anderson and with the representative of another company. Both of them explained how the solar system works and what our options were, and both came up with very similar materials and specifications. The biggest difference between the bids was the price. Because Brian does much of the labor himself, his bid was thousands of dollars less than either of the other two bids. Brian did a great job, everything was done as promised and on time. Soon after we started generating our own electricity we got a check from PG&E for almost $5,000, exactly as estimated in Brian's bid. The tax credit is next when our taxes are done. Thanks Brian!
